Bearings

Bearings are typically designated by three numbers which denote the size of the bearing ex: 20 x 47 x 14. In this example the 20 is the inner hole dimension in millimeters, the 47 is the outer bearing diameter in millimeters, and the 14 is the thickness of the bearing in millimeters. Most bearings also have a number printed on them ex: 6204 which is used by all bearing manufacturers as standards.

6204 (20x47x14): Deep groove ball bearing. Used in smallframe Vespas at the flywheel side crank bearing and rear axle bearing. Used in large frame bikes at the rear axle bearing.

6302 (15x42x13): Deep groove ball bearing. Used in large frame Vespas in the input shaft (Xmas tree).

6303 (): Used in smallframe Vespas as the clutch side crank bearing.

16005 (25x47x8): Deep groove ball bearing. Used in smallframe Vespas on the input shaft as it passes through the casing and attaches to the clutch.

Vespa part number (25x62x12): Deep groove ball bearing. Used in large frame Vespas on the clutch side of the crank. Impossible to find unless ordered through a Vespa dealer as it is not a standard bearing size.

Vespa part number (24x38x15): Two piece roller bearing. Used in large frame P series Vespas on the flywheel side of the crank. Impossible to find unless ordered through a Vespa dealer as it is not a standard bearing size.

JL188 (29x35x12.5): One piece roller bearing. Used in large frame Vespas where the axle passes through the flywheel casing at the selector box. Impossible to find unless ordered through a Vespa dealer as it is not a standard bearing size.

(25x62x12): Used on either side of the main crank on large frame motors before the later 150 Sprint engines.
